Beading Bits
Hello to one and all! May’s meeting was an open beading session and potluck. Thank you to those that came in brought in a yummy dish to share with everyone!
We had a guest visit with us at the May meeting. David Flowers was our guest and he was brought in by our member Harold Horten. David is interesting in learning how to do the beaded ornaments. Thanks for bringing in David, Harold!
We talked about getting more interest in BSSV. Fundraisers at farmers’ markets; Fall Folk Life Festival in October; HAM (radio) Festival in Virginia Beach; Mary Immaculate Fall Festival; Poquoson Seaford Festival in October; Treasures of the Earth Gem and Mineral show in Virginia Beach. Have a BSSV table set up to sell our items, and give a percentage back to the BSSV.
Field trips were suggested. Such as, Studio Baboo in Charlottesville. We can rent a van to go and do a class there, or ask them to come here.
For our June 15th meeting, we’ll have open beading. It was suggested we make lanyards for our BSSV membership card holders. Bring your beads and supplies. If you use thread, it is recommended you use 8lb thread.
Our July 20th meeting will be a polymer clay class. The cost of the class will be $35 (cash, check, or credit card). Preconditioned clay, memory wire, use of clay extruders will be provided for this class. Other supplies may be required. RSVP to sales@fauxgotten.com to reserve your space and color choices.
Also in July, the blank bracelets are due, and the final, completed bracelets are due in December.
Panache, in Richmond, has superduos in the long tube for a good price.

In September, we will nominate Board members.
October class has us doing RAW. A bling bracelet.
In November, we’ll hold Board elections.
In December, we’ll have our social, and gift exchange, and completed bracelets. The Treasure’s report remains the same, $1,083.52.
This Month
The planned activity for June’s meeting is making a beaded lanyard for your BSSV badge. It can be done in any fashion that you fancy.
The reason for doing this is so that way you have a representative of your work with you when you volunteer to participate in working show tables. Everyone’s style is different and everyone needs a little handy-dandy way to show off your style or type of work.
Of course, you are more than welcome to work on something else entirely; if making a lanyard is just not an activity you find interesting.
Bring your beads and supplies. If you use thread, it is recommended you use 8 lb thread. Here are some places to visit on the World Wide Web for an idea or two for your lanyard to hold your BSSV badge.:
