December 2011 Newsletter

December Program

Christmas is right around the corner!  It comes so fast!.  One of the best gifts to give is the gift of handmade. Show off your work to your friends and family.  They will love it. Be extra creative and make your own tags….you can use various color of heavy type paper and cut them into any shape you want; trace out reindeers, trees, or even Santa! Put a single hole punch and string a pretty ribbon to tie!

Annual Potluck
BSSV will have our annual December Social Potluck. BSSV will provide shrimp and soda. So bring that favorite dish to share and lets mingle and have fun!

We will also have our gift exchange, which is optional and  our annual bead jar raffle!  The gift exchange limit is $10 and for the raffle tickets, they are being sold for $1 each or 6 for $5. The raffle for the bead jar is a member only event.

Bracelet Challenge
This the time of year we all wait for.  For all of the BSSV members who participated in the bracelet challenge, it is time to turn them in!  We get to see what amazing work was done by our members.  We have a lot of talented artists among us, so I know those pieces will be worn proudly.

The winner of TADA’s challenge was Nancy Trinkle.  She won a $50 gift card to TADA.  This was another fun challenge we had this past year.

 Mid Atlantic Quilt Show:
February 23-26
We are still looking for volunteers.  If you are interested, contact Joan Geller.  The quilt show is held at the Hampton Convention Center.  We are setting up 4/hr shifts.  During this time you can bring beads to work on, show off some of your pieces and handout brochures.  We hope to recruit a lot of new members to our organization.

New Member:

We have a new member among us, Mary Jane Stark!  Welcome to BSSV, we are glad to have you.

Over the past year I have created a few sites for our members to have access too.  We now have a Twitter account, blog and facebook page.  You can access any of these sites by clicking on the icons above.  These sites have been explained at previous meetings, but feel to ask any questions at anytime.  Most members have a facebook page, that one seems to be the most popular.

Since our website has been down, I went ahead and created a blog that will have all our newsletters on them as well as other information, pictures etc.  You can access that by clicking on the “W” logo above or go to the address here:

Be sure to save that link to your favorites!  A blog works just like a website, it is just a site to go to and obtain information.  You can even leave comments on certain posts!   Also, add our email into your contacts.  Our email is  Any questions you have regarding meetings, what is coming up or needing a recent newsletter can be sent to that address
